Anna Grace has her 1st cheer competition this past weekend in Jackson. She has been working so hard every week at Dallas Cheer and was excited but nervous about the competition. Their uniforms didn't come in before the competition, but the company sent tank tops for them to wear. After they got all glitzed and glamed, they warmed up and were ready to go.

And here we go..."I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Phil. 4:13 For Him Go Stars!"

They all did a great job! Tumbling and stunts were great!!

And they won 1st place in their division!!! GO STARS!

We had to wake up Anna Grace and Walker on Christmas morning to see what Santa brought them. Anna Grace said that they actually woke up in the middle of the night and went to the kitchen to see what time it was, but didn't look to see if Santa had come yet! They were both surprised to see all the gifts Santa had brought them!

Anna Grace loved her new TV, UGG boots, Nook and other surprises.

Walker was shocked to find that Santa had brought him a 3-in-1 sports table, baseball rebounder, KNEX roller coaster and lots of other surprises.

Even Chip knew that Santa had brought him some new toys!

Bebe and Daddy Jim came over for Christmas morning breakfast and then went with us to church. We were all so surprised that Sam went down front and accepted Jesus into his heart! What a wonderful Christmas present for Angie and Rhett!!!

After church, we came home and opened gifts from each other under the tree.

It was so nice to be home on Christmas Day! All afternoon we just hung out together. The kids played with all their new toys and we played lots of games!!! I am so thankful that God has blessed me with such a precious family!

Christmas Eve

We got home from Brandon, changed clothes and headed over to Pontotoc for Christmas with the Wises. I got one picture of the kids in front of our tree before we left.

We have several traditions at the Wises. One is that we always take family pictures usually in front of the tree, but this year we did them in front of the fireplace.

After dinner Bebe decided it would be fun for all the couple to dance. That lasted a minute before the kids wanted to get in on the action too! After everyone settled down, Daddy Jim read the Christmas story from Luke and thanked God for all the blessings He has given us. Then Bebe started bringing out the gifts from the youngest to the oldest grandchild.

Josh always gives the boys fireworks for New Year's Eve.

We surprised Bebe and Daddy Jim with a big screen TV. He had been looking at getting one for a month or more. We were all worried that he'd just go out and buy one before Christmas, but thank goodness he didn't! Bebe was excited that she wasn't going to have to keep shopping for a TV!

Christmas - Brandon Style

We celebrated Christmas with the Stallings and Gastons on Christmas Eve Eve. That afternoon Kristina, Nana and I took the kids to see Authur Christmas which was absolutely precious! Later that afternoon Breisch, Angie, Gage & Ann Thomas got there. Anna Grace loved babysitting Ann Thomas!

PopPop Gave the boys an early Christmas gift - a BB gun that stays at their house! YEA! PopPop had to quiz them on all the parts of the gun before they could shoot it!

It's a little big, but they'll grow into it!

PopPop taught them to ask if it was "safe" before running down to the target to check their shot.

Nana & PopPop also gave the girls an early Christmas gift that will stay at their house - a cottage they get to color. All the kids ended up helping color the house and loved playing inside it!

Walker absolutely loved omelets! When we visit my family in Brandon he always likes to help make breakfast. He can actually do almost all of it by himself...crack the eggs, whisk them, and even flip the omelet! Maybe one day he'll learn to grill steaks like his Daddy!!

This is Walker's 1st year to be able to play church league basketball. He was so excited about his 1st game! Lots of his friends are on his team - even his cousin Sam!

One Starry Night

Our church hosted an event for the children called "One Starry Night" which was a set up to resemble Bethlehem on the night Jesus was born. We entered at the City Gate and were given money in order to enter the different areas of the city. During the night a shepherd told everyone about the star she had seen in the sky that was over the place where the Christ child was born.

They made and stuffed pillow cases.

They learned about toy making in Biblical times.

They crafted a baby out of clay and wrapped him in swaddling clothes.

Even Daddy took part as one of the wise men.

What a wonderful way to help us realize that the significance of Christmas is that the Christ child was born. The one who was promised for hundreds of years had finally come. He is Lord of Lords and King of Kings and He willingly became a tiny baby so that He could be the perfect sacrifice for each one of us. Glory to God in the Highest!

Over the past seveal years Anna Grace and I have made different candies during Christmas holidays. Her all time favorite is Oreo Balls. She loves them so much that I think she could eat a whole batch by herself!

2nd grade Cazy Christmas Party

Walker's class had a crazy fun Christmas party right before school was out. They had a feast with pizza, wings, cupcakes, cookies, chips and dip, and loads of candy. They watched a movie and then the boys serenaded us wth the song "Grenade." The girls didn't want to be left out and so they serenaded us with "Single Ladies." They all were so cute! Then they posed for lots of pictures!

I am so glad Walker is in a class that is so sweet, but all so fun!

Anna Grace & Walker both did a little Christmas singing with their schools choirs. Walker's 2nd grade pod sang at the Mall and did a wonderful job.

No More Metal Mouth!!

Anna Grace was not supposed to get her braces off until early January, but I rescheduled her appointment for the middle of December and didn't tell her! I was planning on telling her after we took Walker to school that morning, but ended up telling her the night before. I knew she would be surprised and excited, but I didn't expected her to be nervous! She worried all night that it was going to hurt! She finally a friend who had recently gotten her braces off and was reassured that it was not painful! Bless her heart...AG just doesn't do well with the unknown!

Thankfully, it didn't hurt! She was really surprised by how big her teeth looked without braces! They also left some room for more permanent teeth to come in. Next set of braces to come in 18 months! But for now she'll enjoy gum, caramels, popcorn and all the other foods she wasn't supposed to eat for the past year!

North Mississippi Christmas Festival

Anna Grace and Walker were part of our church's Christmas Festival this year. Anna Grace was the angel in the nativity, and Walker was one of the drummer boys. It was a simple production this year without any major drama, but it was extremely moving and reminded us of the true reason for Christmas.. that God humbled himself and came into this world as a baby. Thank you Lord for your perfect gift!

Anna Grace was thrilled that should was asked to carry in the baby who played Jesus.

It's Looking Like Christmas!

We spent the weekend after Thanksgiving getting the house decorated for Christmas. The kids love helping to decorate our family tree. We talk about all their special ornaments. Every year we give the kids an ornament that shows something they did or really liked that year. It's so much fun to pull out each of these sweet ornaments ...like the year Walker loved Bob the Builder or when Anna Grace loved to dress up like Cinderella. This year Anna Grace's ornament was a cheerleader since she is cheering with Dallas Cheer Academy. Walker's ornament was a football player because he really enjoys watching and playing football this year.

The kids got new and bigger trees this year. They were running out of room on their tinsel trees for all their ornaments.

It was a lot of fun decorating Anna Grace's white tree! I think it fits her to a "T"!

This was the first year that most of the Wise families were able to spend Thanksgiving together. We all crowded into Beverly & Jimmy's house and enjoyed a wonderful lunch and family time. The kids had so much fun on a Thanksgiving scavenger hunt and then playing outside. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures, but luckily Leigh Ann did!

We are so thankful for our precious family. God has truly blessed us beyond measure.

Our church's chilren's choirs presented "Reflecting Him" for our annual Operation Christmas Child performance. All the choirs did a wonderful job. We pray that many children around the world who receive boxes with also come to know Jesus' love for them.

We enjoyed Halloween at Angie and Rhett's house this year with all the cousins and a few friends.

Bebe & Daddy Jim surprised us all when they showed up as Cookie Monster and Phantom - vintage masked from when the boys were little! The kids loved it!!

8th Birthday Party - Sports Style

Walker has a great time at his 8th birthday party! It was at our church gym with a big bouncy slide and obstacle course. They also rode tricycles and shot basketball. They were all hot and sweaty by the end of the party which must have meant they had a good time!

Walker was so excited about his birthday that he begged to open just 1 present the night before his birthday. Scott and I agreed because the next day was going to be really busy with cheer practice and a football game. So after his favorite dinner of ribs, he opened his preset from Scott and me.

The next morning he woke to Happy Birthday signs and notes all over the house (a tradition in our family!) And he got a candle in his sausage, egg & cheese biscuit!

After breakfast, he got to open his present from Anna Grace...an iPOD case and earbuds!

It is so hard for me to believe that Walker is already 8 years old! He is looking much more like a BIG kid than a little kid. Even though, it makes me a little teary eyed to know that he is growing up, this age is really fun.

I love to see his eyes light up when he learns something new. Walker is such a persistent child, he is always working on something ...shooting a lay-up, learning a new football play, learning multiplication facts, etc. He is also very competitive which is why he wants to learn his multiplication facts, because Anna Grace knows them! Even as the youngest child in his daycare class, Walker worked hard to do the things that his older friends could do.

Daddy and I are so proud of you, Walker. We look forward to seeing all that God will do through your sweet life. We love you!

Girls' Trip - American Girl and Wicked

Anna & Kaylee Beth Moore made the trip to Atlanta with Anna Grace and me for a Girls' Weekend. Anna Grace and I had been dying to see Wicked for about a year, so we were thrilled when we saw that it was going to be in Atlanta. We were so happy that Anna and Kaylee Beth wanted to go with us. We had a fabulous weekend with lots of talking, laughing and, of course, shopping!

Ready for American Girl! Anna Grace has been saving her money for the past several months so she could buy a new American Girl when we were in Atlanta. She couldn't wait to get there!

She couldn't believe all the dolls, clothes and accessories! She LOVED it!!!

Marie-Grace is one of the new American Girl dolls, and she is from New Orleans. When Anna Grace saw her on the Internet about a month ago, she fell in love with her and saved her money to buy her. I thought she might change her mind when she saw all the other dolls, but she didn't. She was one happy girl when the cashier unwrapped her and handed her over the counter! I am so glad that she still likes dolls; I know I don't have many more years of this sweetness!

Ready for Wicked!!!

I wasn't sure how Anna Grace would like the theater, but she absolutely loved it. Just before intermission she leaned over and asked how only you had to be to "do that?" Maybe we'll see her on stage one day!!

We listened to the Wicked album on the way home Sunday, and the girls said their favorite songs were "Defying Gravity" and "Popular." I agree!! I hear Wicked will be in Birmingham in February. I think we'll need another girls' weekend by then!!!

We were so excited for a beautiful day to tailgate for the MSU vs. LA Tech game. Many of our family was there, and several friends tailgated with us as well. The kids had a great time playing football and running around. The game was great, and we were thrilled the Dawgs won!!

The kids and I were able to go to Brandon a few weeks ago for Lily's 4th birthday party and Ann Thomas' baby dedication. It was so good to be with everyone for an extended amount of time. Anna Grace and Lily had a great time at the party - especially holding Ann Thomas!

Growing up (too fast)

Anna Grace is growing up way too quickly for Scott and me. Her favorite thing to do when she has free time at home is to play school. One day she said she wanted pants like mine because I had "teacher pants." (i.e., trouser pants) So, we ended up finding some for her and these really cute ankle boots (for dress up only!) So she dresses up in her "teacher outfits" and plays school for hours! I even heard her fussing at one of her imaginary students in the hall! She'll be a really good teacher one day!

Anna Grace also likes to help in the kitchen. She helped Scott make homemade pizzas last week and did a really good job! It was delicious!

Labor Day at the Beach - with Tropical Storm Lee

We we so excited to go to the beach with Josh, Miley and Meg for Labor Day. Unfortunately, Tropical Storm Lee was on its way to the beach too. We didn't get much beach time, but we had a great time anyway.

Friday night we was a beautiful night at Baytowne. The kids loved the big checkers.

Anna Grace finally got a feather.

Walker rode the bull, and stayed on longer than anyone else that night!

He really wanted to ride the waves at the beach but the 6 foot waves and double red flags got in his way!

So he opted to build a sandcastle. Meg helped a little...

but mostly she hung out with Anna Grace.

Later in the day, Walker decided to try his hand at fishing.

Unfortunately, the rain started as soon as we got set up.

Sweet Meg wanted Anna Grace all weekend! She didn't want anyone else, and AG loved it!!

Lots of Fun in Brandon

We visited my family in Brandon, and the kids had the best time. Anna Grace always loves to hang out with Lily. Most of the time they play baby dolls and wear Nana's high heels!

This is one of the rare times I got a picture of Walker and Reid - they are usually too busy playing outside for me to get pictures. They only stop for food!!

The hit of the visit was the zip line! Nana and PopPop had been promising to put on up, and they finally did. Walker wasn't too sure of having to sit on top of the ladder to get on it, but after he did it one time, he was hooked!

Anna Grace LOVED the zip line right from the start. She wasn't at all scared to get on top of the ladder. She even went down backwards!!!

Reid had a great time on the zip line too, but Lily wouldn't have any part of it!

Sweet cousins!

A few weeks later the kids stayed with Nana and PopPop while Scott and I went to New Orleans for a wedding. They loved the gifts we brought back for them from NOLA!!

First Day of School

I absolutely cannot believe that Anna Grace is starting 5th grade! This will be her last year in elementary school. She has been looking forward to starting school - except for the homework! She has two teachers this year and really loves them both. She says Ms. C. is really funny and Ms. R. calls her "Wisecracker." Sounds like they are going to have lots of fun this year.

Walker is changing before our eyes. Not only has he grown a few inches over the summer, but he's also lost 3 teeth. Over the past couples of weeks, he has gotten really excited about starting 2nd grade. He said his teacher is just like Ms. S (his Kindergarten and 1st grade teacher) which is a big compliment! If the 1st day of school is any indication, this year will be wonderful!

Summer Memories

Scott and I were so excited to see New York this summer with Beverly and Jimmy. We had an amazing time in the Big Apple!

We enjoyed the fireworks show on the 4th of July! AG & Caroline goofing off at the Mall...and with poor Chip!

Walker and Charlie had a big time this summer. They were back and forth better the two houses all summer! Mostly they played the Wii, played baseball or swam, but occasionally they would hang out and watch TV. In July, Scott and I decided that the kids needed regular chores around the house. They earn an allowance each week for completing these chores. So now I don't have to beg for someone to help in the kitchen or with the laundry. And the kids are learning how to manage their own money.

This was the summer of the loose teeth! Walker started out looking like this... then like this...

now he's completely snaggle toothed! Scott had a BIG birthday this summer, and the kids and I couldn't resist letting most people in the neighborhood know.

Centrikid

Anna Grace and lots of her friends went to Millsaps in July for Centrikid. From the pictures, it looks like they had a great time. Unfortunately, Anna Grace was a little homesick and wanted to come home as soon as she got there! Luckily, I talked her into staying until Thursday. Walker and I drove to Jackson and watched her drama team during Worship service that night, and then we spent the night at Nana and PopPop's house. I think she ended up having a pretty good time.

4th of July at the Lake

Anna Grace was so excited to go to Pick Wick lake with Caroline, her family and Mary Alice over 4th of July weekend. She went to the lake for the 1st time last year and absolutely loved it! She was also very thankful that she didn't have to go to all of Walker's baseball games that weekend! I only heard from AG one time over the weekend, and it sounded like she really didn't have time to talk to me! She was having way too much fun!! Thankfully, Beth sent pictures over the weekend so I could see how much fun she was having! 3 silly girls!

Dizzy Dean All Star Tournament

The Tupelo 7 year old All Star team made a great run at the Dizzy Dean Tournament in Eupora over the 4th of July weekend. They played 9 games in 4 days with a 7-2 record in over 95 degree heat! They went from the losers' bracket to the Championship game! We were so proud of the boys' persistence and good attitudes during the whole weekend. They never gave up!

World Series Champs!

Walker's baseball team played in the Park & Rec World Series - and WON!!! They had a great season and capped it off with the World Series win!! He loved playing with this team, probably because Sam and Charlie were also on the team! But he also made some really good friends on the team as well - Ryan Thistle, Jake Weir, Landon Camp. We all wish we could keep this team together next year!

The VBS Big Apple Adventure was awesome this year. The kids really enjoyed the
sites and sounds of NYC and learned more about missions in that area of the United States. They also enjoyed Music Camp after VBS where the teams competed in lots of games. They also fit in time to learn all the VBS music and motions for their Music Camp performance. This was Walker's first year at Music Camp, and he LOVED it - especially all the games!

Walker has been looking forward to golf camp for a long time. He couldn't wait to get out on the golf course - especially since he had new golf shoes! It was really hot every day, but he LOVED it!

He loved it so much that he wanted to stay after camp to practice putting!

At the end of the week, the staff service all the campers lunch. Then they got their scores and trophies. Walker got 3 gold stars and 1 silver star! We are very proud of Walker's determination on of the golf course.

We Love the Beach!

After school was out we couldn't wait to get to the sandy beaches of Sandestin. Anna Grace went with Bebe, Daddy Jim and Charlotte to watch Lexie & Liza play in the state soccer tournament. So Walker, Scott & I set out for Destin after work on Friday. We spent the night outside of Mobile and got to the Hilton around lunch on Saturday. This was the view from our room. Beautiful!!!

AG had been waiting for months for the beach trip so she could get a hair wrap.

Anna Grace has been taking gymnastics for the past 5 years. She has come so far in her tumbling, bar, beam and vault. She has loved going to Flip Flop, but has decided it is time to try some different activities and is trading in her gymnastics shoes for dance shoes!

This year Anna Grace earned a medal, ribbon and 5 year trophy.

Walker was so excited to show off the book that he wrote and illustrated during the 1st grade Author's Camp Out. On the cover he choose pictures he liked with similar colors. His story was all about his thoughts about 1st grade from favorite subjects, the tornadoes, bunny hop, and what he'll miss about 1st grade. He did such a great job writing and illustrating each page - maybe he really will be an author one day!

Walker's favorite sport is baseball so he was excited when the season started. He lead off the batting order and did a really good job. He only struck out 1 time and got two singles and a triple. On the field he played short stop and pitcher and made some pretty good plays. He is so glad that Sam is on his team this year as well as his good friend Charlie.

The Gumtree Art Museum hosted an art show for the Tupelo School District. We were so proud that one of Anna Grace's pieces was selected for the show. We'll have to find a special place to display this precious painting in our home. Great job Anna Grace!!

During April, Anna Grace participated in 3 Bible Drills. She worked so hard for months learning 25 Bible verses, 10 key passages and locating books of the Bible in 10 seconds. She wasn't really happy that she had to participate in the Church, Association and State Bible drills, but I think she actually kind of enjoyed it. Scott and I are so proud of her and know that God will bless her faithfulness.

We all enjoyed a very warm day at the TCC Easter Egg Hunt. The kids ran from game to game collecting candy. We had a wonderful lunch and then watched a amazing magician. Then the egg hunt was on. The kids ran all over the grounds looking for eggs - especially the golden eggs. Unfortunately neither Walker or Anna Grace found the golden eggs, but they had fun trying!

Walker couldn't wait to go on his class field trip to the Circle Y close to Corinth. Their class has not had a field trip this year so everyone was excited!

Thomas St. 1st grade had "Circus Day" this month. They had all kinds of circus activities for them in the auditorium. They enjoyed face painting, tight rope walking, making silly hats, eating popcorn and seeing who could blow the biggest bubble. The kids had a great time!

Chip is definitely the "little brother" of the family. I loves to be the center of attention and will do anything to get attention. His favorite trick is to get Walker's pillow and run around the house with it. This trick never fails to get Walker upset. It usually ends in Walker chasing him which is the best thing in the world to Chip!

Chip also loves the "choice" seats in the house. His favorite spots are on top of the back cushions of the coach (so he can see out the front door) or the back of Scott's chair (so he can see into the kitchen.)

He is also a BIG fan of snuggling!!! He is such a lap dog and loves to hang out with the kids when they watch TV (or anyone else who will let him!) After the kids go to sleep, we can usually find Chip snuggled up with one of them in the bed!!

Last Soccer Game

Soccer season finally came to a close this month. The boys had a great time playing together and actually learned some new soccer skills. They started learning how to pass between players to set up goals and to not be a "ball hog." While Walker was a little sad that soccer was over, he had his eye on baseball season.

Spring Break - NOLA Style

We decided to take a little vacation to New Orleans during Spring Break. We thought the kids would enjoy seeing the sites and sounds of the "Crescent City." They didn't really fall in love with NOLA. They said it was dirty and smelled bad!!! It sure didn't help that our hotel did not have pool! They were devastated!!! After waiting in line for about 30 minutes, we did finally enjoy fabulous shrimp poboys at our favorite - Acme!! Later that afternoon we learned a lot about some creepy crawlies at the Audubon Insectarium. We even got to touch a Madagascar Roach!! (It felt like a crawfish!) The kids really enjoyed seeing tons of different insects. Walker was fascinated with the millipede. He couldn't believe that it really had 100 legs!! Anna Grace really liked the movie that had bugs crawling under your seat!

Inside the car was a movie about "Love Bugs!" AG loved the car!

That night we boarded a trolley and ventured into the Garden District to try out a restaurant we had heard was wonderful - Jacques-Imos. We had another long wait, but it was totally worth it. The menu was extensive and our meals were fabulous!!! The decor reminded us a little of the Red Bar in Grayton Beach - funky!! They even had an old truck parked outside with a two-seater table in the bed - and they actually seated people there for dinner!!

The next morning we made it down to Jackson Square and Cafe Du Monde. The kids didn't think they would like beignets so they picked up some cereal from the hotel. We toted 4 boxes of cereal, 2 cups of milk, 2 bowls and 2 spoons all the way from the hotel (which was on the other side of Canal St.!!) Needless to say, Walker's cup was only half full by the time we got there, and his spoon bit the dust - literally!!) They kids ended up loving the beignets - after they ate their cereal!!

They enjoyed seeing all the craziness around Jackson Square - including the mechanical man. Their favorite was the magician but unfortunately I didn't get a picture of him. There were also lots of educational moments around Jackson Square - like explaining the palm readers and fortune tellers!!

After exploring the sites of Jackson Square, we headed to the French Market. They were fascinated by all the booths. As a souvenirs, Walker ended up with 2 sets of beads - one with crocodile heads on it and one with cheetahs! (Random!) Anna Grace picked out a pretty little silver ring with her birthstone in it.

Later that afternoon we headed toward the Audubon Aquarium. There was a steam boat on the river that was playing lots of organ music. They kids thought that it was so cool that we could hear it when it was so far away. They also thought these statues were pretty awesome. Anna Grace took her camera in the Aquarium and really enjoyed trying to get good pictures of all the fish. Walker really liked the sharks.

Even though the kids didn't really LOVE New Orleans, we really had a great time just hanging out and not being in a rush. It was nice to have few days to just relax and enjoy being together.

Spring Break 2011

Unfortunately, our 1st day of Spring Break was cold and rainy. Luckily we had a very challenging puzzle to occupy us. Walker stayed with it pretty much all afternoon. Anna Grace is not a huge fan of puzzles so she worked on it a little in between baking a cake and watching TV. We were all very proud of ourselves when we finished it!

Pinewood Derby

Walker was so excited when he got his Pinewood Derby kit. He begged to work on his car everyday. Lucky for him (and me), PopPop came to visit that weekend. PopPop was an Eagle Scout and had put together many Pinewood Derby cars in his day! He helped Walker whittle and sand the car. After he left, Walker and I continued to work on it, but ended up having to send it back to PopPop to put the weights in the car. Walker and I went through several different paint jobs, and finally ended up with a silver car with blue stripe. We had several mishaps along the way, but ended up with a nice little car.

The race was so much fun!! Walker's car actually came in 3rd place! It also won 3rd place in "Show & Shine!" So Walker ended up with 2 trophies!

On the way home, Walker started talking about what he wanted to do with his car for next year!

New Glasses

We realized in January that Walker seemed to be having trouble seeing. He couldn't read the screen at church, and he often stood right infront of the TV. So we finally got an approintment in February. During the exam I asked if he really needed glasses, and the opthamologist laughed. He could barely read the 20/40 line! Needless to say, Walker was thrilled when he put his glasses on for the 1st time! He said "It's so much clearer" and smiled the whole way home!! He even wanted to wear them for his soccer game that night. (And he made 2 goals!) I think he looks precious!

10th Birthday - Movie Star Style

We celebrated Anna Grace's 10th birthday in movie star style! She and Sarah Bertolet share the same birthday so they decided to have their party together at the Tupelo Country Club. The ballroom was transformed into the Golden Trophy Awards Show. Each girl came dressed as a movie star & took a walk down the red carpet. Then they found out the character they would become in our little drama!

2 Days Old

5 yeards old 7 years old 10 years old!
February 11, 2011 was a little emotional for me. My baby would be turning 10 the next day and it just didn't seem possible! How can it be that 10 years have gone by so quickly? Seems like yesterday that we were meeting her for the first time, changing her diapers, swaddling her, and getting up for midnight feedings! It doesn't seem possible that she is in the 4th grade, has braces and her ears pierced! Seems like she should still be in rompers, smocked dresses and have bows in her hair! Now she refuses to wear bows, wants to wear jeans, Toms, and NorthFace jackets!

While I am a little sad that she is no longer a toddler, I have to say that I've enjoyed every minute of the past 10 years! I am humbled and amazed that God chose me to be her mother and to guide her through this journey called Life! I pray for wisdom as Scott and I raise her to know and love our Heavenly Father more with every day. We definitely need lots of wisdom and patience as the teenage years grow ever so close!!!

Anna Grace, we love you with all our hearts and are so proud of the young lady your are becoming. We look forward to watching God's plan for you life unfold with each passing day.

Walker's Baptism

Scott and I were so excited a few weeks ago when Walker asked Jesus to be his personal Lord and Savior. We had been praying for him for a while and were so happy when he made this important decision. Scott took him to meet with Bro. Forrest the next Sunday, and he made his public profession of faith on January 17.

Walker has really looking forward to getting baptized today. He met with Bro. Forrest again this morning in order to learn the importance of baptism. He was a little nervous as he waited to walk into the water, but he did wonderful! We were so happy that all of our family and many friends were able to be with us on this special day.

Scott and I are so thankful that Walker has asked Jesus into his heart at such an early age. He has such a sweet compassionate spirit, and we know that God has big plans for his precious life. We look forward to seeing how Walker glorifies God each day of his life. We pray that God will guide us and we raise him to know and love Him

New Braces!!!

Anna Grace is dental phobic, to say the least! She freaked out when her dentist put sealant on her teeth!!! So, getting braces was a very big step for her. She was so nervous that she could barely eat lunch today and kept complaining about her heart "beeping" really fast!! We had to practice some deep breathing to help with her anxiety!!!

But the sweet girl who put on her braces was so patient and kind with her. She showed her every instrument that she was going to use and let Anna Grace ask as many questions as she needed. After it was all over, Anna Grace said that it didn't hurt at all. I'm sure there will be some pain in the days to come, but at least the scary part is over (until they put on the bottom braces!!)

Snow Daze 2011

We were all so excited Sunday night to see snow flakes falling. The kids had to get right out in it.

YEA!!! SNOW!!!

Later that night we actually had about an inch_ so the snowball fights began!

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner and some time to visit before the kids were begging for presents! Santa Came & God Sent Us a Gift Too!!!

We actually had to wake our family up on Christmas morning. We told them Santa had come and that God had sent them something too. Anna Grace immediately said, "Did God send us an angel?" When we said no, she guess that it had snowed. This is our 1st white Christmas. What a wonderful gift!!!

Anna Grace & Walker were so surprised by all the gifts Santa left for them.

Anna Grace asked for a tie-died bike. So glad Santa had one!

Walker's #1 request was drums.

Christmas Eve

We all look forward to Christmas Eve at Bebe & Daddy Jim's house. We always take family pictures as soon as we get to their house. During the year we love going back to see how each family has grown and changed over the years. Each year a grandchild helps Bebe light the candles in the den. Over the last few years, Bebe has started a new tradition of handing out small candles and we blow them out after Daddy Jim thanks God for our family and especially for sending Jesus as a precious baby so many years ago. Then we visit over a wonderful dinner. After everything is cleaned up, we all find spots in the den and listen as Daddy Jim reads the Christmas story. Then all the paper starts flying as the children start opening their presents - one at a time.

Christmas Goodies

One of our Christmas traditions is making goodies. The kids always love to help. This year we made some favorites and also tried out a new recipe. Our new treat was chocolate covered pretzels with sprinkles. The kids really enjoyed making them - and eating them. The only draw back was all the sprinkles all over the kitchen!

We also made our alltime fav - oreo balls. The kids love crushing the oreos in the food processor, mixing the crumbs with cream cheese, rolling all those little balls, and dipping them in white chocolate. YUM!

He didn't think the girls would like funky teeth, so he got them coloring books. Needless to say, the boys LOVED their teeth!!

Just before Christmas break, I finally allowed Anna Grace to get her ears pierced. She has been begging for years and I kept telling her that she had to be 10 years old. So she was pretty surprised when I said we could go ahead and get them pierced at Christmas.

Avery Ray went along for moral support. Anna Grace was so brave! She said it hurt a little but was so glad she finally got it done! I think she looks beautiful, but I'm a little teary-eyed that my little girl is growing up!

The Pierce St. Pride Choir sang at Barnes and Noble after Thanksgiving to kick off their Book Fair. Even though it was cold and rainy, there were lots of kids running around in lime green Pierce St. Pride shirts (and lots of moms and dads!) The kids did a great job singing their hearts out!

Of course, the kids begged for some new books (love that!) So, this is what I found when I turned around in the car on the way home!

Operation Christmas Child

The Harrisburg Baptist Church children's choirs presented Christmas Around the World for the Operation Christmas Child service. It was absolutely wonderful! Walker's 1st grade choir dressed like children Europe. They were precious! I think Walker looks a little like Pinocchio!

The Young Musicians choir is made up of 4th - 6th graders. They dressed as children from South America and sang songs from that culture. My favorite was "The Virgin Mary had a Baby Boy." Love it!! Operation Christmas Child always gets us in the Christmas spirit, but also reminds us that it is more blessed to give than to receive.

John the Elf Returns

Starting the weekend after Thanksgiving, the kids began their search for John the Elf. Every morning. they would scan every nick and cranny looking for John. Each morning that he wasn't here, the kids would be so disappointment - especially when they heard that the elves at their friends' houses had already returned. One morning, Walker asked if John wasn't coming back because he and Anna Grace were "too old." I assured him that they were not too old and that John usually didn't come back until the beginning on December.

Finally, after much anticipation, John returned. Evidently, John got here during the day while we were all gone to work and school. The kids were so excited!! John even brought along gifts for the kids all the way from the North Pole!! What a wonderful way to kick off the Christmas season!!

While we were in Brandon recently, we visited the Ag Museum. It was amazing to walk through a cotton gin, see how they picked cotton and visit an old time school, church and store. We even saw printing presses from the early 1900s! It really reminded me of Mayberry!!

Our family was blessed beyond measure by the precious 5 weeks God allowed us to spend with Layne Grace Gaston. He was so gracious to allow us to love her here on earth when we didn't even expect 1 day with her. God used her sweet life to draw so many people to Him, and we look forward seeing how He will continue to touch hearts through Layne's life.

We am so grateful for the love and support of so many friends. Your sweet words of encouragement and especially your prayers are what sustained us during the ups and downs of the past months.

Anna Grace and I were so excited to see Layne this weekend! I couldn't believe how much she had changed in just 5 days!!

Anna Grace said she looked like a baby doll! She is so small she can actually wear some of Lily's baby doll clothes!!

Sweet Feet!

Breisch and Angie were so sweet to take all the kids to the Pumpkin Patch on Saturday afternoon. The kids loved it! When they got back we all hung out in Nana & PopPop's backyard while the kids played.
